A pony is a baby horse! Or I guess like a cutesy name for one, too. I don't really know what the chocobo equivalent would be. Choco-boo? Chickieboo?
Imagine a spoiled little girl whining at her rich dad that she wants one, that's when you use "pony" instead of "horse".
